AICT -- Art Images for College Teaching began as a personal project dedicated to the principle of free exchange of image resources for and among members of the educational community. The contents of full disks, or selected excerpts thereof, may be downloaded into institutional or personal electronic image files for non-commercial purposes, and may be adapted or re-configured according to the borrower's particular applications. Email & Web Projects -- This site was developed by Susan Gaer as a means for people to collaborate worldwide. Based on the premise that non-native speakers have as much to offer as native speakers of English, Susan created the site to help both interact with each other. Projects are either initiated by classes or individual teachers.The word "Email Projects" was developed in 1994 before the popularity of the world wide web. At that time(1994) most of the projects were conducted via e-mail. With the advent to the World Wide Web, most of the projects are now "web projects". EServer -- The EServer is a unique website where 226 scholars, readers, artists and writers gather to share and discuss their works. Exploratorium -- Housed within the walls of San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, the Exploratorium is a collage of over 650 science, art, and human perception exhibits. The Franklin Institute Online -- There are many resources here for the student or teacher. Some of the institutes exhibits are available online, and there are many wonderful things to see on this site.

Dole -- A major american food corporation owns this site, where there are some excellent activities for kids, and equally good resources for teachers.

Global Learning -- This site is owned by the GCF Community Foundation and administered by Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina, offering free online computer and career training. The computer courses are tailored to specific software, operating systems, or procedures, and you may have to go onto a waiting list for the class you want, since classes are instructor supervised with fixed schedules but if you need to improve your computer skills, this is an invaluable resource. Computer classes are also conducted in Spanish.

ArtsEdNet -- An Educational Web Site From The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles California, Offering lesson plans and curriculum ideas for teachers, as well as image galleries & exhibitions for everyone.

The Hero's Journey -- A project of the Maricopa Center for Learning & Instruction (MCLI) and the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute. Please note that this site was an experimental project developed in 1998, where we never imagined that more than 5000 people would create their own work here. The site shall continue to operate as a free resource, but it does not always work to perfection! "We try to patch problems as they occur. Knowledge Network Explorer -- Pacific Bell operates this web site as an online resource for California schools, but there are resources here that any educator should find useful, like the Blue Web'n newsletter which finds, and regularly notifies subscribers of, new educational resources on the Web, while there are some interesting looking activities on the "Lessons" page. The determined surfer could, no doubt, find other useful things here too.

World Heritage Committee -- With 721 cultural and natural sites already protected worldwide, the World Heritage Committee is working to make sure that future generations can inherit the treasures of the past. And yet, most sites face a variety of threats, particularly in today's environement. The preservation of this common heritage concerns us all. Plenty of resources for students and teachers here. University of Illinois Extension -- Answers people wherever there are educational needs in urban, suburban, and rural locations. Extension continues its historic commitment to rural communities, families, and businesses. But just as Illinois has changed, so has Extension changed to meet the needs of all people. Today's most important issues know no geographic boundaries. Extension provides education and information focused on addressing environmental, economic, and societal issues in several program areas.

U.S. Geological Survey -- The Learning Web, a portion of the USGS website, is dedicated to K-12 education and life-long learning. Explore things on, in, around and about the Earth such as land, water, plants and animals, and maps.

The Virtual High School -- Imagine classrooms without walls, where students are able to attend their classes 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Imagine a nearly limitless selection of courses - courses that are innovative and technologically rich, courses that are in the areas of core academics, technology, courses for language minorities. Be World Wise -- Our Web site is meant primarily as a teaching tool to help teachers and homeschooling families bring traditional subjects such as math, social studies, and geography to life. Here you will find frequent updates with text and pictures from the WW team onboard the Picton Castle, interviews and guest appearances by the crew, relevant links, book lists, and lesson plans, and a way to contact the team onboard with questions about the ship and the voyage. Your Sky -- The interactive planetarium of the Web. You can produce maps for any time and date, viewpoint, and observing location. If you enter the orbital elements of an asteroid or comet, Your Sky will compute its current position and plot it on the map. Shape Books -- a place for teachers, parents, student and children to create, learn and have fun writing! A shape book is a book shaped like some image. The words of the book are inside of the shape. An outline of an apple is a good example. Cut out the outline and the book is the shape of an apple! At Shapebooks.com you can create these fun books on-line.

Topmarks.co.uk -- This is a terrific site with plenty of great resources for teachers and students too.

A Year in the life of a Tree -- A nicely done site, but navigation is a little difficult. There are no "Alt" text boxes under the navigation icons (that's the little box that appears next to your cursor and tells you the name of the resource indicated by the icon), but if you'll watch the bottom of your browser screen you'll see descriptions of what the buttons mean.

Typing Pal -- One of my favorite "Pet Peeves" is that our schools often introduce students to the computer without teaching them to type. Typing skills are essential to computer technology. Typing Pal Online offers a free basic typing course anyone can use. You'll have to register, but if your typing skill need improvement, it's more than worth it. This is a terrific site, and it can be very useful to any classroom that has access to the internet.

WorldWideLearn -- At this site you'll find hundreds of online courses, degree programs, certificates, professional continuing education and learning resources in 60 subject areas offered by educational institutions, companies and individuals from all over the world.

Utorials -- Utorials.com is a venue for learning and for teaching. Write what you know, read what you don't.
