SearchShots -- A visual search engine that provides preview screenshots of every site.
A site that permits you to make simultaneous searches on several different search engines with a single query is called a "Meta Search" engine and there are several such sites on the web.
Langenberg -- This interesting site offers access to several metasearch sites from a single page.
FindArticles -- An online archive of published articles that you can search for free.
Cogitum -- Two interesting freeware search applications are offered here: Image Co-Tracker is a tool for creating the database of images from the Internet. It captures the image itself, its Internet address, the Internet address where it refers to, its name and date of adding to the database. Cogitum Co-Citer is a tool for creating collections of texts from the Internet. It captures the selected text, its Internet address, its title and date of adding to the collection.

SearcheBooks -- Is, as the name suggests, a site where you can search for ebooks.
Infoplease -- Is described, on the site, as a "Knowledge Base" search (the site had a couple of annoying pop-ups when I visited).
Daypop -- Search 59000 news sites, weblogs and RSS feeds for current events and breaking news.
NoodleTools -- A suite of interactive tools, some of which are free, designed to aid students and professionals with their online research.
My Search engines -- Build your own search page with your choice of search engines on it. This is a sort of DIY metasearch.
StudyLight -- A Christian religious studies site which includes a bible search feature.
Bible Database -- Offers downloadable bibles and tools to study them.
Tiny Search Engine -- A full-featured web site search utility. TSE searches a range of websites for given keywords. Unlike other searchers it doesn't make use of online search engines. Features include embedded web server, content filters and other advanced tools.
GuruNet -- The free version of this downloadable program includes a dictionary, thesaurus, spell-checker, and word translator which all work from within other applications or on web pages.
GGSearch -- A downloadable freeware search application that works with google.com. This product is neither produced by, nor affiliated with google.com but it does make use of some of the features offered by google's website.
Astronomical Images -- There are an incredible number of astronomical images available on the Internet, however finding a picture of a particular object can sometimes be difficult. The Astronomical Image Library helps out by allowing you to search for images of any object you specify.
BrokeScholar -- A free scholarship search engine connecting students and parents with financial aid and college scholarships. The BrokeScholar database matches student profiles with more than 900,000 scholarships worth over $3 billion to find the most relevant and obtainable opportunities.
Google Toolbar -- This is a browser add on I'd really hate to have to do without. It makes web searches far easier, and it block those darn pop-up ads too. It even fills out web forms for you, if you want it to, but I don't use that feature.
Dave's Quick Search Deskbar -- This Open Source browser add-on can be used in place of, or in conjunction with browser toolbars (like the google toobar) and it adds some other functions like Yahoo search, Merriam-Webster definitions, Bloomberg stock quotes, news/newsgroups/weather searches, comparison shopping, and, according to the author, if you know HTML you can add custom features of your own choosing. Worth a look.
iTools -- A nice collection of search, and research tools all located on a single site.
Text Only Search -- From AltaVista.
SquirrelNet -- SquirrelNet is dedicated to helping people gather their internet information (much like squirrels gather food for the Winter). They value simplicity and usefulness over quantity. This is a great place to hone and refine your search engine skills.
ISEDB.com -- The Internet Search Engine Database.
Search Engine Colossus -- Links to search engines and directories from 195 countries and 39 territories around the world.
Rolist -- A search engine with a rotating list of websites which not only provides the most appropriate websites to any given search, but also offers websites the opportunity to be at the beginning of the search results in an impartial manner .
